How you earn one

A certificate is issued when you finish the course: every module, start to end. You cannot claim it halfway through. When you finish, Octo asks for the name to put on it, and you issue it yourself.

That name is signed into the credential. It cannot be edited afterwards, which is what makes it worth checking.

How anyone verifies it

Every certificate has a public verification page. Share its link and the person opening it sees three things:

On the public page	Not on the public page
Your name, as you issued it	Your scores
The course it was earned for	Your conversations with the tutor
The date it was issued	Anything else in your account

The check needs no Octo account. A link that has been altered, or that Octo never issued, says so instead of showing a certificate.

What you can do with it

• Copy the verification link and put it wherever you want people to check it.
• Print it or save it as a PDF, for a file or a portfolio.
• Keep your working private. Your scores stay with you, and are not on the certificate or its public page.

What it certifies

An Octo certificate says you completed a course that Octo designed for you, on the subject named on it. It is not an accreditation from an exam body or a university. Each course is built for the person who takes it, so the certificate names the course you actually did, rather than a standard syllabus.
